Welcome to Global Lab! |
Dear student, What is a neighborhood? A typical neighborhood includes people who live close to one another, so close that they see one another relatively frequently and rely upon each other. There is a great difference between "neighborliness" for those living on the open plain, where the nearest neighbors of some farmers are miles away, and for those living in a high-rise city apartment, where people along the same hall might be considered neighbors. Then, what is an international neighborhood? The Internet now allows people living far apart to get to know each other so well that they might be considered "neighbors". We can build international neighborhoods, laboratories, and libraries because we recognize that we have a shared future on this single planet, and that we need to get to know each other, or at least a few representatives of the many inhabitants of the globe. In Global Lab, you will learn science with students like yourselves; they may be next door or on another continent. You will share experiences and resources and help each other to better understand the world around you. You will al be experts on what is happening on the land you choose to study, a "study site." As experts, you will have much to teach each other. |

Sharing Your MessageWhen possible, add your pictures and descriptions to the GL web pages. (Go to Sharing) Share the message with other schools. Getting to know a few schools well is always useful, so consider which schools you would like to work with intensively. |
