Note that the computer communication cable has a small round connector on one end.

2. Look carefully at the alignment of the posts on the round end of the connector.

3. Several round ports exist on the back of the computer for both desktop and laptop models. Be sure to align the posts with the correct hole configuration that is available on the modem/serial port. Damage to the connector may result if it is placed in the wrong port.

4. Attach the connector to the modem/serial port at the back of the computer.
