Technical Hint

Programming the MicroLog™ for a iMac or iBook computer with USB connector

Once the MicroLog™ software is open, select the following options by sliding the controls:

  • Serial port selection - Check the available port on your Mac computer with a USB connector. Once the KeySpan software is loaded, the Modem port will be open for communications. The MicroLog™ will determine if the port is available. If the port is not available, the software will send a message that the "Setup failed."

  • Rate of data collection - For this activity the rate is one every minute.

  • External sensor - For this activity the external sensor is None.

Click on Setup on the computer to send the commands to the MicroLog™.

After the MicroLog™ wakes up, you should see a "Setup successful" message on the computer screen after a second.

There is a chance that your iMac or iBook ports are configured to not allow the Modem port to be accessed. If this is the case, you will see the following warning:

Click OK (possibly several times) and move the slider to the Modem port.

Click on Setup on the computer to send the commands to the MicroLog™.
