Technical Hint

Reviewing commands on the MicroLog™ screen

The MicroLog™ is always in one of the following modes. If the mode is not a logging function, the mode can be cancelled by pressing (and holding) the Start button for two seconds.

Caution: Pressing the Start button will erase all prior data before logging begins again.

If no display appears on the screen, you may need to replace the internal battery.

  • RU (Run) - The MicroLog™ is preparing to record data. RU will appear for only a second after pressing the Start button. It will stop recording when the memory is full unless the Stop button is pushed or downloading occurs.

  • St (Stop) - The MicroLog™ is idle and not recording. ST will "stay" on the LCD from the moment the memory is full or until logging is stopped by pressing the Stop button. You will also see ST on the screen after setting up the logger from the computer. ST will appear during reset, then SE (setup), and than ST again.

  • SE (Setup) - The MicroLog™ is preparing for a new setup. Setup is performed while the data logger is connected to the computer in two steps:

    • first, the data logger is receiving a Stop command from the computer

    • then, the data logger is receiving a Setup command

As a result, the SE mode also deletes the last stored data from the logger.

Caution: pressing Setup on the computer will erase all prior data before logging begins again.

  • PC - The MicroLog™ is downloading data to the computer. PC will appear on the MicroLog™ after you connect the computer communication cable to the computer and press AppleWorks™ on your computer. Note: It is not necessary to press the Stop button on the MicroLog™ before downloading. Keep in mind though, that the MicroLog™ will continue to log until the download starts.

  • Sensor - The MicroLog™ will display data on its screen while it is logging. The screen will flash between percent humidity and air temperature. If an external sensor was programmed during Setup, an additional reading will appear. Keep in mind that the external sensor needs to be connected to the MicroLog™ to store an accurate reading.

  • PA (Pause) - The MicroLog™ is in the Pause mode and has temporarily suspended collecting data. This is useful if you need to move the MicroLog™ to a new location for testing. To obtain a Pause mode, press the Stop button once on the MicroLog™. Press the Run button to start the collection again.

  • UP - It should not be necessary to use this function since the MicroLog™ automatically "wakes up" during the logging and programming process. To observe this function, you simply need press both the Stop and Run button simultaneously.
