Technical Hint

Replacing the MicroLog™ battery

The MicroLog™ battery's life should last for 1.5 years. This is done by putting the logger "to sleep" between samples and after 4 minutes without communication with the computer. While sleeping the logger consumes very low power.

The logger "wakes up" each second for a very short time (few micro-seconds) and checks if one of the keys is pressed or if there is a message coming from the computer. This is why you have to press and hold the logger key for two seconds till you see RU or ST. This is also why you see in the computer status bar "waking up..." when the computer sends a 1 second message to the logger in order to wake it up.

If you use an external sensor or if you use a sampling rate of 1/s, the battery life period is shortened. Below is a graph showing the battery life versus the sampling rate.

To replace the 1/2AA (3.6 V) lithium battery, simply open the four screws in the back of the MicroLog™, replace the battery, and reassemble.

Caution: Please watch the humidity sensor when closing the MicroLog™ in order not to "crush" this gentle sensor in its slotted chamber after replacing a battery.

If you have difficulties, please report any malfunctions of a MicroLog™ immediately to Hagai Zamir by email at hagai@fourier-sys.com and Dovi Bruker by email at dovi@fourier-sys.com at Fourier Systems Ltd. Hagai or Dovi will respond within 24 hours.
