In order to measure percent humidity, your MicroLog has four small slits on its backside. This must be open to the air during the activity. Turn the MicroLog in the container so that the slits are open and not resting in the dirt.
The weather conditions will affect the results. This activity can be performed during any season but should be done in full or partial sunlight. Select a time during the day when the amount of sunlight is relatively the same throughout a twenty minute period. If necessary, a sun lamp indoors can be substituted for sunlight.
Caution: Do not look directly at the sun as eye damage will result.
Obtain a clear plastic food container without a lid. Any shape container will do. This container just happens to be round.
Nestle the MicroLog in the dirt so that it stands up with the slits not in the dirt.
Now you are ready to start investigating...
