Activities and resources

Unless otherwise noted, our educational activities and resources are released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license (CC BY-NC 4.0), which allows free use and redistribution for non-commercial purposes in accordance with the license terms.

What we mean by commercial use

“Commercial use” is any use that provides commercial advantage or monetary compensation. Commercial use may include, but is not limited to:

  • Incorporating individual computational simulations or complete activities into paid or subscription-based products
  • Including simulations on ad-supported websites or monetized YouTube channels
  • Using simulations or their screenshots in marketing or advertising
  • Government or institutional distribution programs
  • Non-profits using or distributing simulations as part of a paid, fee-based, or fundraising product or service

Software code

Our software code is released under the MIT license.

The MIT license is one of the least restrictive open-source software licenses available. Under the MIT license, you may use, copy, and modify software however you want, as many times you want, and in whatever format you like.

Attribution requirements

When sharing or redistributing a simulation, educational resource, or derivative work (e.g., screenshot or video) non-commercially, the following attribution is required:

Resource by the Concord Consortium, licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0 (https://concord.org)

Additional guidelines:

  • Inclusion of this attribution does not by itself make the use non-commercial, fair, or permitted
  • Attribution must appear as close as possible to the point of use and be human-readable
  • Translations of the attribution text are permitted; other modifications are not permitted
