Increasing the educational impact of our work

Through our many projects at the Concord Consortium we often come up with promising results. How does a small research and development company take the next step in ensuring that our innovations become widely available? By borrowing a strategy from the for-profit sector, we spin off service-oriented companies that can provide specialized dissemination and outreach.

KidSolve: Offers teacher professional development and online curricula for inquiry-based science teaching.
Metacourse: Provides consultation to organizations in online course design, in English and Spanish.
OnLine Learning International (OLLI): An e-learning design and training company that offers consulting to businesses.
Virtual High School, Inc. (VHS): An international consortium of schools that share secondary-level Web-based courses.

When this model is run, the ions tend to clump, but if there is sufficient water, they become completely surrounded with water "snowballs," one of which can be seen on the right.
